Unique Rare Graduated Set of 7 Vintage Italian Pewter ventes exceptionnelles Measures

Set of 7 Antique Graduated Pewter Measures, Cylindrical, Italian,19th Century.This is a very fine assembled set of Antique cylindrical shaped pewter measures. The set is graduated and runs from the largest measure to the smallest tiny measure. This is a complete set of pewter measures with all seven having impressed marks, eachwith two customs stamps.

These cups would have been used in bars and restaurants for measuring the amount of beer, spirits or wine served to customers in an attempt to standardise measures. They still varied from town to town. In times past, the measures in a town were checked for their accuracy and the tankard would have been stamped to say it bore the correct volume measure. Each of these measuring ventes exceptionnelles cups have 2 stamps on each. A lovely decorative ensemble and they have some real history as well
